As the year 2020 came to a close, the wellness app category witnessed varying user engagement and download trends on the iOS platform in the United Kingdom. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, presents an opportunity to understand how these apps fared during the fourth quarter.
Calm experienced a fluctuation in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $137K and ending the quarter around $117K. Downloads peaked in mid-October with over 25K but saw a dip towards the end of November before rising again to over 22K in the last week of December. The app's weekly active users started at over 200K, had a slight decrease in November, and then rebounded to around 198K by the year’s end.
Headspace: Sleep & Meditation also saw its revenue fluctuate, starting at around $107K and decreasing to approximately $99K by the end of December. The app's downloads had a high in early November at over 15K but dropped to 8K in early December, before recovering to over 13K in the final week. Weekly active users reached a peak of over 194K at the end of November but decreased to around 188K by the end of the quarter.
For Sleep Cycle - Sleep Tracker, revenue had a notable peak in late November at over $31K but ended the quarter lower at around $23K. Downloads reached their highest at nearly 10K at the end of November, with a noticeable dip in mid-December. Active users showed an increase in late November to over 121K but concluded the quarter with a slight decrease to 109K.
I Am Sober had relatively low revenue, with the highest point reaching nearly $1K at the end of December. The app's downloads were highest at the start of November with over 10K, and active users peaked in early November at over 88K, ending the quarter at approximately 88K.
Lastly, Sleepiest: Sleep Meditations showed an increase in revenue from the start of the quarter at nearly $3K to a high in mid-November at over $5K, ending at approximately $2K. Downloads for the app were also highest in mid-November at over 9K but saw a significant rise in late December to over 10K. Weekly active users saw growth throughout the quarter, starting at under 5K and ending at nearly 12K.
